Go sightseeing in Flensburg, which is an incredibly exciting city. The historic port of Flensburg is definitely worth a visit, see Museumswerft Flensburg, the working shipyard that builds and exhibits replicas of historic sailing cargo ships and work boats from the 18th and 19th centuries. From May to October you can also go on a boat trip on Flensburg Fjord with the old salon steamer Alexandra.
At the Scifffahrtsmuseum you can see the exhibition about the history of the harbor and the old market town. The Rum Museum in the basement, tells the story of the trade with the Danish West Indies and the slave era. The brown drink fills much of Flensburg's history, in the heyday there were over 200 rum houses in Flensburg, but today there are only two left. At Rumhaus Johannsen and Braasch Wein und Rumhaus, you can learn more about rum, enjoy a glass or two and buy a souvenir to take home.
If you visit the Rumhaus Braasch, then finally take the time to also explore the rest of Rote Strasse, which since the Middle Ages has been full of shops and craftsmen. The houses on the cobbled street have been beautifully restored, and here you will find many working artisans in the old farms. If you come past Flensburg during the Christmas month, then finally visit the cozy Christmas market, with lots of stalls serving mulled wine, roasted almonds and other delicacies. In the many stalls you can buy Christmas decorations and handicrafts, for example the famous angel figures and nutcrackers from the Erzgebirge.
