It is off the beaten path of tourists, but close to the Baltic Sea in the scenic South-East Rügen biosphere reserve and invites you to a comfortable holiday in a historic setting. Putbus, the so-called White City, got its name from the huge Putbusser Park with its gleaming white townhouses, the castle and the orangery in the classicist style.

Activities nearby: From Putbus -Lauterbach runs the "Racing Roland", a historic steam train. Take a day trip with the steam train to the Baltic Sea resorts of Binz, Sellin, Baabe and Göhren. Guided tours to the uninhabited island of Vilm, which is about 2.5 km from Lauterbach, also start from the port of Putbus. You can also try fresh smoked fish in the harbor on the MS Dicke Berta - the fish is considered by the people of Rügan to be the best smoked fish on the entire island.
