The municipality of Nahetal-Waldau, located in the heart of the Thuringian Forest Nature Park, consists of five small villages with a total of approximately 3,500 inhabitants, one of which is Waldau. Forest and meadow trails and a bike path are in the immediate vicinity. The Ratscher mountain lake is just 2.5 km away, and the Vessertal valley, the most beautiful valley in Central Germany, can be reached in just a few minutes.

Activities nearby: Waldau is an ideal starting point for hikes. Just around the corner is the Vessertal Valley, with several beautiful circular hiking trails. At the nearby Ratscher mountain lake, you'll find plenty of opportunities for water sports and swimming. The summer toboggan run in Waffenrodt and the adjacent adventure playground are a worthwhile destination, especially for families with children. There are also many castles and palaces in the area, as well as museums with various themes.
