Verkebäcksviken is known for its fishing opportunities and, not least, the fishing for herring in the early summer months. Fishing with hand tools is free for everyone, and if you find it difficult to fish on shore, you can rent a rowboat in season. If you manage to catch some herring (and on some days it is really easy) then you can clean and eat them the same day.
